The future is daunting.
Trying to figure out your next steps and trying to navigate this crazy world is scary. The problem for many is trying to figure out what they are actually looking for. The late teens to early twenties are a time of tremendous exploration and new adventures but is also a time of great change and growth. Expecting this age group to pinpoint what they want to do for the rest of their lives is a crazy expectation, considering how much growing and maturing goes on during these years, yet the norm is to have individuals during this time choose their path. Deciding upon a major is one of the most difficult decisions that a college student will make because you are choosing something that will set you on a path for the rest of your life. The thought of making the wrong choice after spending so much time and money on the future is one that propels individuals to think long and hard about their goals. How can we be expected to plan out the rest of our lives now when we have so much more of it to live. It is simply too complex of a decision. The only thing you can hope for is that you are able to find the small things to find happiness and joy in alone the way, while at the same time try to figure out what your life will become.
